Ateljé Stundars International Artist in Residence Programme, Finland
I am currently undertaking the artist in residency programme, at Ateljé Stundars, Korsholm, Finland, from 1st September 2016 - 31st October 2016. With support from Creative Scotland, as an Artist in Residence I have already taken part in Open Studios (18.9.16) and I have given a presentation at Yrkesakademin, Jakobstad, to the art and design students (13.9.16). I will also be exhibiting the work produced on the residency at Galleri Gro, Jakobstad.
During my time at the residency in Stundars, it has been the perfect opportunity to go on phantasmagorical drifts through the Finnish landscape and woodlands. While on these walks I have noted the landscape with photos and drawings, building up reference material and looking at structures within these spaces. Currently I am creating a series of watercolour and pen drawings and large scale paperworks, as studies and finished works, the bright colours and neon pens create a heightened sense of reality, particularly with the use of contrasting colours to the natural landscape.
Recently I have been interviewed about my exhibition at Galleri Gro, for Österbottens Tidning newspaper by Sofie Stara, Autumn Colours and Shady Forests, (10/10/2016): online.osterbottenstidning.fi/Artikel/Visa/117987
